Android tablets sales have started coming closer to ipad. Android tablets market share was 30.1% in last quarters global tablet shipments. This means that Google is able to find some success against the Apple’s ipad which once dominated the Tablet market. But shipments are not the measurement of sales it includes every Android tablet in the production house, in transit from the manufacturer to retail outlets or waiting in the store to be sold to consumers. Apple’s 60.3% market share represents actual sale.
However if we calculate the amount of device hitting the android market we can get a fair amount of sales data on the android tablets. Google says there are 135 million Android devices have hit the Android market in two weeks and out of which 0.9% is Honeycomb 3.0 or 3.1, which means that 1.2 million tablets checked the Android market in those two weeks, which is still smaller than apples 9 million tablets.
However it doesn’t include all those tablets which didn’t hit the android market in the past few weeks and all the tablets which work on Android 2.1 or 2.2 but still we can say that Apple is selling at a ratio of 8:1 against all Android tablets. That differs greatly from how people are interpreting the Strategy Analytics data, which could be construed as one Android tablet sold for every two iPads. However there is a decline in the supremacy of apple in the tablet market. Still ipad is the best selling tablet and no one can deny that fact and it will be the best selling device for a long time.
