We recently showed you how easy it was with a few combinations of Home button on an iPhone to bypass the lockscreen despite it being passcode protected here. However, no more. Apple has released it’s latest OTA update which would iterate your iOS version to version 6.1.3 and take care of this bypass. The update is about 18 MB in size and should take no more than 15 minutes to install on a decent internet connection. The update is available both OTA and via iTunes. The official listing on the update is:
“Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app” and “Improvements to Maps in Japan”
It is pretty surprising though that Apple has taken over a month to fix the issue and that despite rolling out the update to 6.1.2 this issue was not resolved. Updating to the latest update could also mean that you are not going to be able to jailbreak your device any longer, because Apple has also patched up a security loophole that allowed the popular jailbreaking tool Evasi0n to take advantage of. So if you want to keep your jailbreak secure, then do not update your device.
