Apple has seeded iOS 8.1.2 update to all the users. The update has gone live simultaneously for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches that have been running iOS 8. Just like any other iOS update, you will be able to update your smartphone with the new updated features via an OTA that would be showing on your Apple product right now, or by connecting your device to iTunes whereby the update will be downloaded to your system and phone will be sync’d. Like any iOS OTA update, the iOS 8.1.2 update will not delete any data from your device and is perfectly safe to go ahead with. But, it is a good idea to make sure that things are backed up just in case something goes wrong.
The update is barely 29 MB in the size so you don’t have to wait for ages for the same to download. As you must have guessed by the size of the update that this is not a major update and brings with it bug fixes as well as the ability to restore your ringtones that you may have purchased from iTunes but it was not visible.
This was a rather major issue, as a lot of us have purchased a ringtone and it was a bummer that you could not choose something that you have paid for in the past on your device. It took us about 15 minutes to complete the update on a 4 Mbps down line.
