BOC Aviation is involved in the buying, leasing and selling of commercial aircrafts with headquarters in Singapore. It is one of the better known names when it comes to being the go to guys, if you are a startup in the airline industry and need the aircrafts. In their largest order till date, BOC have ordered a total of 82 brand new aircrafts from Boeing. The order includes 50 Boeing 737 Max-8s aircrafts, 30 Boeing 737-800 next generation aircrafts and 2 Boeing 777-300 ERs.
The aircrafts will add to the fleet of the leasers who in the leasing aircraft industry so far have the youngest fleet with average age of barely 4 years. It is no surprise that a big chunk of the order has gone for acquiring the 737-800s which has become the best selling aircraft in the arsenal of Boeing. The 777-300 ER on the other hand is capable of flying a range of about 7,825 Nautical Miles making it one of the preferred aircrafts for long distance flights.
Dinesh Keskar, senior vice president Asia Pacific and India Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes said on the ocassion:
BOC Aviation has established a proven track record in the airplane leasing industry. They have played an important role in the success of the Next-Generation 737 and the 777-300ER in the leasing market by helping place the airplanes with airlines worldwide. We’re excited about our continued relationship with BOC Aviation and look forward to working with them on the new 737 MAX.
For the same, Robert Martin, managing director and chief executive officer, BOC Aviation said:
Following the successful placement of the 50 Next Generation 737 aircraft that we ordered in 2006, this is a continuation of our commitment to be responsive to airline customers which are expanding or replacing older fleets. The 737 is known for its operational and fuel efficiency, and BOC Aviation expects healthy demand for the Next Generation 737 and 737 MAX variants in the next seven years.
