Boeing Offers the 200 Seater Variant of 737 Max 8

In a bid to retain its position as a top player when it comes to commercial flying, Boeing has decided to enhance its fleet and offerings by introducing a 200 seater Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. This gives the potential buyers an option of adding 11 addition passengers to the previously announced fleet of the 737 Max which would carry 189 passengers. Given the average 25 years of life, these 11 extra seats could prove to be a really big deal for those who are looking to purchase the next generation of the famous 737 aircraft.

The 737 Max 8 200 seater joins the likes of the 787-10 as well as the 777X in the widebody offerings of Boeing. Needless to say, Boeing is really ramping up the production of all the three aircraft to stay on top of its demand which already has surged past a figure of 649 for all the families of 777, 727 and 787 combined.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner said of the move:

This new 200-seat 737 MAX 8 ensures we’ll retain our leadership in comfort, capacity and lower operating costs in the heart of the single-aisle market. With this increase in capacity and confidence in our engine and airplane testing, we’re on track to deliver a 20 percent more fuel efficient product than today’s Next-Generation 737. Our current and future widebody products leave no gaps in the market. Now that we’ve positioned ourselves for future growth, we’re focused on executing on our plans and production rate increases—delivering superior value to our customers. The market for commercial airplanes is stronger than ever, and we’re doing everything we can to get Boeing products into the hands of our customers as soon as possible.
