BlackBerry is planning for a September release for one of their most oddly shaped and designed smartphones ever. The device we are alluding to, is the BlackBerry Passport. The phone instantly reminds us of the Nokia E63/E71 from the good old days of symbian. It is a full QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone but is awfully broad for a smartphone. The phone looks more like a phablet with a square shaped chassis.
Not a lot is known about the device in terms of its specifications so far. Though, we do know that it would be running the latest BlackBerry OS 10 out of the box. The phone has odd sharp edges too, to add to the whole weird look of the device. The phone does have a touch screen as well as the physical buttons just like we have seen with the likes of Blackberry Q10 and Q5. There is no trackpad or the back button here and you totally rely on the touchscreen for any sort of communication with the device.
While the details of the device remain scant, there is a 36 second clip that you can check out which features the BlackBerry CEO John Chen demonstrating the device. The phone has the standard three row QWERTY design and we could not really spot any software difference either. You can check out the short clip of the device right here
