Unless you are an aviation geek, you would be forgiven if you did not know about the Farnborough Air Show. It is a trade show where Boeing and several other aircraft manufacturers are showing off their latest build of aircrafts. From Boeing’s side of the things, the main attraction is the Boeing 787-9, which is the latest variant of the Dreamliner, 787.
The 787-9 is a slightly bigger version of the 787-8 which is already deployed in service. The Boeing 787 family together boasts of 20% less fuel consumption in a similarly configured and ranged aircraft. With a seating capacity of 280 passengers, twin aisle configuration and a range of almost 15,500 km, the Boeing 787-9 is perfectly configured for both medium and long range journeys. The aircraft has a maximum cruise speed of .85 mach and should be first delivered by the middle of 2014.
At the Farnborough Airshow, we caught a glimpse of the advanced aerodynamics of the aircraft that allows it to perform some breath taking maneuvers showcasing the immaculate stability and control systems of the plane.
