Cyanogenmod Raises $7 Million and aims to make a Mobile OS for Mobile Users

Cyanogenmod is one of the best known communities out there when it comes to developing ROMs for Android phones. They have developed ROMs which are very close to stock Android with some nitty gritty add ons for more devices than any other. In fact CM must have made ROMs for devices which were never even supported by their own community. They are some of the best people in the development community and have been loved over the years.

They have now reported to have raised as much as $7 Million and aim to bring a Mobile OS of their own which would be by Mobile people for Mobile users. The main aim behind the move is to have an OS that can rival Android and do better in the market than Windows Phone and BB 10 giving the people one viable option apart from the giants that are iOS and Android.

Some of the goals of Cyanogenmod as stated by them are:

* Organize, lead, and support our community
* Create amazing user experience centered around how YOU work
* Security solutions that really work
* Stay committed to building the features our users need
* No junk
* Constant updates
* Available on everything, to everyone

It looks like from the onset that Cyanogenmod will make some sort of an overlay UI for Android which would be installable on top of Android giving users a very neat and uniform experience onboard across devices. This could be a terrific thing in the long run and we cannot wait to see what are the plans of Cyanogenmod as it may be the first move to take away some of inconsistencies of the platform.
