Everything You Needed To Know From the Apple Event of September 9, 2015

There was an Apple event yesterday. We are sure you know about the same. Dubbed as the biggest Apple event, it eventually turned out being the longest event for sure. It was also the Apple event where pretty much every product other than the Macbooks were covered and there was something or the other for everyone to look forward to. Yes we all were eagerly awaiting the new iPhones, but there was a lot to pick up from the event, so here are the snippets of everything that happened at the Apple Event yesterday in a typical recap style.

Apple Watch OS 2 is coming on September 16th


The Apple Watch is going to be even more awesome in a weeks time. Apple showed off that with the Watch OS 2 coming you will have standalone independent apps for the watch which would allow some really nifty things like you measuring your BP or ECG and sending it to your doctors directly. The watch penetrates deeper as your medical assistant and is capable of doing some remarkable stuff. Not just the software, Apple also introduced a gold and rose-gold finish on the Apple Watch sport and a large collection of new bands for their sport model including an interesting two color tone strap.

iPad Pro is a reality finally

It has been rumored for a while now that Apple has been working on an iPad of the size of the Macbook Air which would eventually replace the machine. While Apple did not specify that is what their plans are but one look at iPad Pro and that is what you would think. The tablet features a 12.9 inch display with Retina Display, you have 4 surround speakers which adjust their sound output based on the orientation of your iPad. You have your usual Touch ID in there too. The interesting features are that the iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32 GB version and there is no 16 GB variant. It comes with a real powerhouse Apple A9x chip with 2 GB of RAM promising whole 10 hours of battery life. You do have 3D touch on the iPad Pro, which is the new USP feature of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Apple also unveiled the Apple Pencil, a glorified stylus and a smart keyboard for the iPad Pro which will cost $99 and $169 respectively. It will be available around November time frame.

The New Apple TV is here


Apple also refreshed its Apple TV lineup. The new Apple TV running the all new TV OS with an interesting remote with touch sensitive navigation and Siri integration will start at $149 for the 32 GB variant. You will have your usual list of content providers like HBO, Hulu, Netflix on board too. The new OS on the Apple TV will allow you to play games using your iPhone or iPod Touch on the TV as well as download native apps. You will be able to use Siri within your content as well as to suggest new content for you. It is expected that Apple Music will also be coming to Apple TV soon. Apple TV runs A8 chipset and has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. You have the ethernet and HDMI ports too. It will be available in late October.

Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus Announced


The most eagerly awaited announcement of the evening was the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The new generation of iPhones in terms of their looks are very much like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. You cannot really make out the difference between an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, other than from the back of the phone which has the ‘S’ etched in the back of the device. The device does have a 12 MP camera now as compared to 8 MP on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The most talked about feature of the new iPhones is the 3D touch which would allow you to open contextually relevant menus from within the app as well as on the springboard. For example, a deep touch on the Facebook app icon on the springboard, will allow you to directly update a status or go into a specific spot in the app. You will be able to record live pictures too on the phone, a bit like Zoe, where long pressing a picture will play the 1.5 seconds before and after the picture was taken. The phones will come with new leather cases as well. The phone will be available for pre-order on September 12th and go out on sale from September 25th via the carriers. The iPhone 6s Plus will sell for $299 via carriers and iPhone 6 will cost $199. India is expected to get the new iPhones around end of the year.

Apple also announced the iPad Mini 4 which basically is the iPad Air 2 in a smaller iPad Mini casing Also, it was reported the iOS 9 will begin rolling out on September 16th while El Capitan, the latest OSX will be shipping from September 30th.
