We are well aware of the kindle readers and the e-ink display that they bring to the table. These displays consume less energy and can last days on end without recharge, allowing for a great reading experience. So far the E-Ink displays have been used in watches and tablets, but YotaPhone is a unique device that brings a dual display of E-Ink and an IPS panel.
The device has an E-Ink display with the always on technology on the back that allows users to read information without taxing the display. On the flip side, you have a regular Android smartphone with pretty reasonable specs. The Yota Phone has been around for a while now, but has finally reached India, and will be launched as Flipkart exclusive. In terms of specifications, the device has two 4.3 inch panels, with the front panel being a True HD IPS panel, with the rear one being an E-ink display. The phone runs on a Dual Core Snapdragon processor and 2 GB of RAM, while you have 32 GB of internal memory.
Talking about the launch, Michael Adnani, VP – Retail & Head – Brand Alliances, Flipkart said:
Flipkart has established itself as a go-to destination for leading global and domestic brands who want to engage with a wide range of customers in India. Yet again, we bring an exclusive partnership with an innovative and one of its kind smartphone for the Indian audience. This is in continuation of our commitment to bring world-class products to our customers backed by our superior service.
The rear camera on board is 13 MP and has a 1 MP front facing unit. The device is running close to vanilla Android 4.2.2. The battery is an 1800 mAh and supports 3G. The phone will go on sale for a price of 23,499 from Flipkart in black and white colors.
