Gionee Mobiles has been one of the several Chinese brands out there with traction on their back when it comes to seizing the market volumes. After the launch of the Elife E7 an year ago, Gionee had set its focus on slim and size zero devices with the launch of the Elife S5.5 and the Elife S5.1. As much as we disagreed with the move for looks and sizes ahead of specifications and internal power, we really liked how the S5.1 and the S5.5 looked and felt in the hand.
However, at MWC in Barcelona, Gionee decided to combine the goodness of a heavily spec’d device along with a slim chassis in the Elife S7. The name of the phone does not have anything to do with the specifications or thickness this time which honestly is a little baffling. The device comes with on screen touch buttons and will run Android Lollipop 5.0 out of the box.
The S7 features a body that is 5.5 mm thick and has a 5.2 inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3. This gives the phone a PPI of impressive, 424. The battery on the device is 2700 and has to power an Octa Core Mediatek 6752 processor with each core clocked at 1.7 GHz. The phone will be available in three colors including blue, black and white and will come with a Dual SIM configuration. There is Amigo 3.0 on the board and you have a 13 MP snapper at the back and an 8 MP front facing camera. pricing of the device has not being revealed in India yet, though the European market will see the phone being available at a price of Euro 399.
