Chinese smartphone OEM, Gionee mobiles has announced the fifth device in its G series of devices. While not official, the G series for us stand for Ginormous series in the Gionee lineup as the devices here are usually in the phablet series. We had seen the GPad G4 a while ago and the all metal like body reminded us of the likes of HTC One Max.
The GPad G5 is the latest addition to the series and the device comes with 5.5 inch 720 P display, in a metal and glass body. The device will go on sale both online and with offline retailers starting next week for about Rs 14,999. The Gionee GPad G5 has the usual set of connectivities including, 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS, though there is no 4G here.
In the engine room, you have a 1.5GHz Cortex A7 hexa-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The internal storage is about 8 GB, though you do have expansion slot that can take the device to up to 32 GB of memory. The Gionee GPad G5 also has dual speakers with DTS for a better media consumption. The main camera on the rear of the phone is a 8 MP unit and the phone runs Android KitKat 4.4 out of the box with Amigo OS on top of the same.
Announcing the launch of the device, Mr Arvind Vohra, the head of operations for Gionee in India said:
I am delighted to present our consumers with our latest product, the Gionee GPAD G5.
