After announcing it globally in June, Gionee has decided to bring their flagship device, the Elife E8 to India on October 8th. It has been a good four months since the phone was announced globally, so it is no doubt a little strange that it has taken Gionee four months to bring the phone to India; especially after reiterating so often that India is an important market for them.
Anyway, the block your date was issued to the media for October 8th, which with little coincidence also coincides with the E8 moniker. The event is set to take place in new Delhi and looks like the phone is not the only thing that Gionee plans to unveil on the 8th. The BYD also mentions a grand entry into the world of E-Commerce from Gionee, who has so far maintained that they do not want to be a part of the e-com push in order to keep their retailers and resellers happy. However, it is suspected that Gionee could either well be tying up with an E-Com partner exclusively or have a complete product range that would be an exclusive range for the online world rather than going the usual route and making all their products available online.
In terms of specifications, the Gionee Elife E8 comes with 6 inch Quad HD panel, Mediatek Helio X10 SoC, 3 GB of RAM with 64 GB internal memory. The phone will run Android 5.1 out of the box with Amigo UI 3.1. There is a 23.7 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front facing camera on board. The phone supports dual SIM and has a finger print scanner too. There is a 3520 mAh battery in built. The cost of the phone in China is RMB 3999 which roughly comes to about Rs 41,000.
