Google Maps to get a Major Update and New Interface at Google I/O?

Google Maps is one of the most popular mobile apps ever made. The upsurge in demand for Google Maps when Apple decided to strip it off iOS and replace it with it’s own Maps was literally frightening. Not only reliable but Google maps is incredibly easy to use and that is one of the major USP of the app. But, seems like Google wants to give the popular app a face lift of sorts and we could be getting an all new Google Maps application.

The unofficial Google Systems Blog has revealed that the new redesign will focus on a redesign by stripping off all the unnecessary bits from the app and a full screen layout with a simple search bar on the top to help you search for places and get directions. It is also reported that the app would integrate local search results based on the recommendation of your contacts in Google+ . There would also be ability to look up reviews of a place quickly so you will not be required to fire up apps such as Zomato or even Foursquare when looking for a place and what people who have visited think of it.

Although nothing definite yet, with Google I/O coming up next week we expect to hear a lot more about this maps redesign at the event. Either way, a full screen layout would be a welcome improvement and one we are really looking forward to.
