Google has let it slip that the next Chromebook is in works and we could expect the same in the coming days. The first Chromebook by Google, called the Pixel was a great hardware but barely offered any value for money at the price point it was announced. It was a laptop that could give the current range of Macbook Pros a solid run for money, if it was not for the ecosystem which it lacked pretty badly.
It is being reported that Google immediately took down a video which was posted on Youtube that had a senior executive, Director of Android & Chrome and Google for Work Renee Niemi at Google teamWork 2015 where she speaks about the upcoming Chromebook. To quote from the video, she said:
We do have a new Pixel coming out and it will be coming out soon. We will be selling it but I just have to set your expectations: this is a development platform. This is really a proof of concept. We don’t make very many of these — we really don’t. And […] our developers and our Googlers consume 85% of what we produce. But yes, we do have a new Pixel coming out.
It is clear from her words that Pixel is still very much in the development phase and therefore it makes a lot of sense that we will see a fair few new features this time around too. How many of them will change the game, only time will tell.
