actually it can be deleted, the primary category can't be deleted, so make another category as primary and then delete the uncategoried thing. however, i do what you have mentioned, its a great idea to just rename it, i always rename it to my main category or the featured category, .-= Uttoran Sen´s last blog ..Free Google Wave Invitations Giveaways – Get yours now =-.

This is an awesome idea to rename uncategoried default category in wordpress.
It can be renamed into misc. category or other category.
