Here are the Details of Microsoft’s Planned Amber Update

Microsoft recently announced the Lumia 1020 which is the device sitting on the peak of smartphone rankings when it comes to camera. However, long before the Lumia 1020, in fact during the launch of the Lumia 925, Nokia did hint at a possible update coming soon to their WP 8 devices in the form of an Amber Update. This update brings some really interesting and nifty features to the table. The update will bring the much requested feature of FM Player on the WP devices and will be rolled over by the OEMs. The update also brings much needed stabilization to Skype and generally will keep the WP die hards happy for a while. These are the detailed changes that the Amber update plans to bring.

  • Xbox Music. It’s now easier to select, download, and pin music. Plus, music fans will see more accurate metadata (such as song and album information) and many other performance improvements.

  • FM radio. Listen to FM radio right from the Music+Videos hub. (Not available for all phones.)

  • Data Sense. Stay on top of your phone’s data usage with Data Sense. You can set a limit based on your data plan, or just keep track of which apps use the most data. (Not all mobile operators offer Data Sense.)

  • Skype. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) apps like Lync and Skype now feature improved stability and performance.

  • Internet Explorer. Your web browsing experience is now better than ever with improved HTML 5 compatibility.

  • Camera. Set your favorite Lens so it opens automatically when you press the camera button. (Not available for all phones.) Other improvements. Includes many other improvements to WindowsPhone.

This update may well be the last one to the Windows 8 Phone OS before a massive overhaul takes place sometime in 2014 early. Are you excited about the Amber update? Let us know in the section below.
