Picasa is an amazing software from Google to view and edit images quickly. It supports many image file formats. Also you can watch video files such as .avi, mpeg, wmv, asf, mov, etc. With easy to use and interactive interface it is one of the favorite tool for computer lovers.
One of our reader asked:
I can easily edit jpg images by clicking the “Edit in Picasa” button but when I try editing the png images, I am unable to click on that button because the button is disabled for png and gif image formats. Is there any way to activate the button?
This is a common problem of many Picasa users. The JPG image option is activated by default but PNG is not. So to solve the problem, only thing you need to do is enable the PNG file format so that it can be editable in Picasa. Here’s how you can do this.
1. Run the Picasa software in your computer.
2. On the menu bar, click on Tools –> Options.

3. Click on the “File types” tab. You’ll see lots of file types and checkboxes next to them. Check the box next to .PNG option. Similarly if you want to edit .GIF images then check the box next to it. Click OK.

4. Now “Edit in Picasa” option is activated. Every time you open the image with Picasa, you’ll find the editing option enable.

That’s how you can solve the PNF files problems in Picasa. Also check our guide to use Picasa web’s unlisted gallery to share your entire album.
