How to Turn Off Internet Explorer Browser [Security]

Have you heard the line “Precaution is better than cure”? It applies in Internet Explorer too. Chances of attack of Malware and Spywares is high in this Microsoft browser, see example here. If you are using Firefox as your primary browser then it is better to turn IE off to keep your data safe from malware attacks.

Note: As Google Chrome browser use IE internet settings therefore after applying this method your Chrome browser will also turn off. Therefore don’t apply this method if you are using Chrome as a primary browser.

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Go to Tools –> Internet Options.

3. Go to connection tab and click on “LAN settings” button.

4. You’ll see the Proxy server area unchecked. You need to check the box next to Use a proxy server as your LAN. Enter the value 0.0.0.0 in the Address box and 80 in the port box. Click OK.

5. Now open any page. You won’t be able to open any page as you entered dead proxy server which doesn’t exist. Given below is the diagram that shows you how dead proxy sever breaks the connection between your computer and web server.

Now open any web page, your browser would not able to open any page because dead proxy redirects the request to nowhere.

To enable your browser repeat the process again and uncheck the box next to Use a proxy server as your LAN.
