HTC Butterfly was a terrific phone which was sort of overshadowed by the beauty that is HTC One. However, there had been rumours flying around that there could well be a device that would succeed the J Butterfly and be the iteration to the Butterfly series. Well, turns out, once again the rumours mills are proved right as HTC has indeed confirmed and announced the HTC Butterfly S for the Taiwan market. The device will be available in the market in the coming weeks but there is still a question if the device will be available in other continents such as Northern America, Africa or even Europe. You have to hope one of the carrier partners will pick the device and we could have the device in the USA under a new Droid branding.
The technical specs of the device are pretty much what it was expected:
- Android 4.2 with Sense 5.0
- 1080 P 5 inch SLCD 3 screen.
- HTC Zoe
- Wi-Fi B/G/N/AC/A, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, IR Port
- 160 g in weight and 10.6 mm in thickness
- Snapdragon S600 Quad Core SoC with quad Core CPU clocked at 1.9 GHz
- 16 GB Internal Storage
- 3200 mAh Battery
- 4 MP Ultrapixel Camera
- BoomSound Speakers
The device has very similar specs to the HTC One but clearly much bigger, gives a nice option to those who like 5 inch devices. The device in reality look like a cross between HTC One and HTC Butterfly. There is no confirmation of the price yet though.
