HTC announced the HTC One yesterday in a highly anticipated event in New York. The phone was expected to be a run away success by just looking at the specs on board but the announcement definitely made us look forward to this device more than any other Android phone. Yes, it is early to predict that One would be the flag bearer for Android in the coming year but we just are so excited about this device. Maybe in three weeks time, Samsung could blow us away with an S IV but for now the undisputed king is HTC One.
First look at the device and it looks very similar to the Z10 from BlackBerry. The phone has a very characteristic of HTC, a unibody construction with a lot of premium quality material used on it. The specs on the device are simply mind blowing and it seems that hTC is setting the standard up already. HTC was quick to admit the fact that they would require a more aggressive marketing approach this year if they are to go back in green. and with HTC One, seems like they have started on the right track.
HTC One has a 4.7 inch 1080P display with a PPI of staggering 468. This already put devices such as Xperia Z to shame and make the die hard fans happy that HTC have gone ahead and not followed the phablet market of devices. The 4.7 inches means the device is pocket-able and of a convenient size. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 600 quadcore processor running at 1.7 GHz. the phone features two stereoscopic speakers on the front producing sound which is in a class of it’s own. This technology is called Boomsound and there is Beats Audio on board too.
HTC One has probably the best camera at least capability wise so far. The phone will ship with an UltraPixel camera. This means that the camera can allow three times or more light to enter the sensor than a conventional camera of 8 MP which should mean better results in low light conditions. Image stabilization is present both on nthe front facing as well as back camera meaning the device could be an image capturing giant. HDR videos are also possible and the phone capture videos in 1080P.
HTC One debuts the Sense 5 which a brand new UI from HTC. The OS is JB 4.1.2 with update to 4.2 imminent. It is a lot more like Flipboard meaning looking through your social feeds and other info is simple and easy. The phone is powered by a 2300 mAh battery, and has support for LTE and has 2GB RAM out of the box. The HTC One would be available in 32 GB and 64 GB variant. The phone would be available in the market starting next month.
We absolutely love the capabilities of this device. However, we all know that real life performances can be so much different than one on paper, so will reserve our judgement about the device till we get one in our hands. Do let us know what you think about the device in the section below or tweet in to us @Blogtechnika or @Techverarp.
