Is Google Ready to Announce a Google Newsstand?

Remember when Apple announced the Newsstand, everyone asked just one question, what is the way to take the icon away from the springboard and hide it away? Yes, evidently it did not have too many fans initially, but as time went on, people did realise that having magazines and newspaper subscriptions on your devices was not such a bad idea after all. And looks like Google is all set to follow the same path an open way for Newsstand if the report by Android Police is to go by.

Newsstand-Google Play

According to the report, they have torn down the version 4.4 of the Google Play app which reveals that in future Google may have newsstand which could well be one stop destination for your magazine and paper subscriptions. The javascript and CSS code from the application points towards a Newsstand which has been renamed from Google Play News. Since the code is very much a part of the apk already, it is very obvious that Google has already made it’s mind up and we may see the service launch with Android version 4.4, popularly known as Kitkat.

Google Play

The reports suggests that there will be free trial offers just like the Apple Version and the introductory line of the app would be, “Your favorite magazines and news are right here on Google Play. Pick up the latest issues or try out a free trial subscription. Read instantly with the Play Newsstand app, even offline”
