Micromax Enters the Windows Phone Market: Announces two new Budget Smartphones

Micromax has entered the Windows Phone market as it was announced at the BUILD COnference earlier this year. Micromax has thus become the first Indian OEM to bring Windows Phone to the market with the likes of Lava and the rest expected to join in soon this year. Interestingly, the two devices announced by Micromax today were both budget devices, marked at prices below Rs 10,000.

Micromax announced the Canvas Win W092 and Canvas Win W121 as it’s first two Windows Phone devices. The two devices will be available starting in July in India at the leading retail stores. The devices will be a part of the Canvas family that so far only had Android devices. The W092 is the smaller of the two devices and features a 4 inch IPS WVGA display with 5 MP rear camera with LED Flash. The Win W121 is slightly larger, and boasts a 5 inch display with HD resolution and 8 MP rear camera and 2 MP front shooter. The Win W121 will also feature a leather like back panel which will be removable.

Both the devices have 8 GB of internal memory with expansion possible via Micro SD slot and 1 GB of RAM. The similarities do not end just yet as both the devices are powered by the same Snapdragon 200 SoC. The Micromax Canvas Win W092 will be available for Rs 6,500 while the Win W121 will go on sale for Rs 9,500.
