Motorola’s flagship, the Moto X Force just went under the axe to get a massive price drop. Moto has slashed the price by Rs 15,000 on the 32GB version and by Rs. 16,000 on the 64GB one. This has been a steep drop for the product considering it is just a couple of months old.
The Moto X Force is loaded to the gills when it comes to specifications. The device packs in a Snapdragon 810 processor along with 3GB of RAM. Motorola also introduced a shatterproof display with this smartphone called ShatterShield. The display is said to offer much higher protection in comparison to Gorilla Glass and has also managed to survive multiple drop tests.
Motorola is known to offer price cuts on their slow-moving products and they have already done it on products like the Moto Turbo and the Moto made Google Nexus 6. Moto is also running a discount on the Moto G3 which might be a stock clearing move for the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus. Motorola had also done a price correction on its Moto X Style to compete with the OnePlus 2 and the Nexus 5X.
The X Force price cut may be down to a slow moving inventory and low sales due to stiff competition from the Nexus 6P and the Samsung Galaxy S6 which retail somewhere around Rs 34k. The initial Rs 50,000 price on the X Force 32GB was considered ridiculously high though Moto tried very well justifying with the unbreakable screen. What this price drop also does is reduces the enormous gap in pricing between the Moto X Style and the Moto X Force. It’ll be interesting to see if Motorola decides to raise the price back up or stick to an aggressive pricing for this rugged phone.
