Motorola Xoom family edition for $379

Its official, Motorola has finally announced the Motorola Xoom family edition which is the latest edition to the tablet family. The device will be available from October 16th and might turn out to be a best buy exclusive.

This is what Jim Hamilton, corporate vice president, global retail & distribution, Motorola Mobility said:

“Nowadays, everyone from mom, dad to the youngest child use the same tablet device. We set out to design a device that’s kid and family-friendly yet versatile enough to handle your business needs, The Motorola XOOM Family Edition offers a world of games, shows and video tools and because it’s from Motorola, you know it’s durable and will last for years to come.”

Motorola Xoom family edition will be running on Android honeycomb 3.1 and will have a 1GHz dual core processor. The device will have the same 10.1 inch display like the Motorola Xoom, with a 5MP camera which can record videos at 720p.

What’s different in Xoom family edition is that its pre-loaded with some goodies like Zoodles, Quickoffice Pro HD, MotoPack by Motorola Xoom, games like Asphalt 6 and SIM City Deluxe along with an application named Motoprint which lets you print straight from the web browser. Although it comes with all these preloaded applications, you can always download the ones that you need from the Android market.

This device will have 16GB in built memory and is supposed to last upto 10 hours depending on the usage.
