Nvidia Shield Tablet Receives OTA for Android 5.0.1 Lollipop

Nvidia Shield is one of the most highly acclaimed Android tablets out there. Post the Nexus 9, it would not be wrong to say that when it comes to being the highest spec’d Android tablet the Nvidia Shield would easily slot in behind the latest Nexus tablet. The Nvidia Shield is popularly known for its gaming performances and pretty awesome display. the tablet was one of the very first ones to bring the Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC to the mainstream consumer tech.

The tablet was one of the first to receive the update to Android 5.0 earlier in the quarter in the form of an OTA. And post that Nvidia has now released an Android 5.0.1 update as an OTA to the device. The update brings several interesting features including the SHIELD Power Control menu which has now been brought back by Nvidia based on the request of the community.

The general UI and app performances have been enhanced too here and overall the device is now reported to be a look smoother in every day activities. The update also brings support for Open GL 4.5 which was announced earlier in the year. The update is available as an OTA and has the number 2.1 attached.
