After much hype, literally and building up for the major launch of the successor of the OnePlus One, OnePlus has announced the OnePlus 2 in India. The device was announced in a unique Virtual Reality launch, which, unfortunately, was not live, but a pre-recorded video, even though it was an interesting experience. OnePlus team, went on to give us a brief tour of their offices, before revealing the important details of the device.
As expected, the OnePlus 2 will come with a 5.5 inch display with a 1080 P panel instead of the 2K display that was muted for a while. There is a finger print scanner on the bottom of the front bezel, a bit like the way it is done on a Samsung smartphone. The device will be available in 64 and 16 GB versions and will have several different backs including Kevlar and Rosewood to choose from as well as more swap style backs. To begin with, India will only receive the 64 GB version of the device starting August 11th which makes India one of the first countries to get the device.
As expected the OnePlus comes with USB C-Type port, though there is no fast charging or NFC on board. The camera is a 13 MP rear unit with f/2.0 aperture with a 5 MP front facing unit. The battery on board is a 3300 mAh Li-Po non-removable one and the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 810 SoC. The RAM on board will be 4 GB for the 64 GB version and 3 GB for the 16 GB version. The phone continues to have a Magnesium- Aluminum alloy frame, but this time you also have stainless steel accents on the device edges.
The OnePlus 2 will retail for Rs 24,999 in India for the 64 GB version and Rs 22,999 for the 16 GB version.
