OnePlus had a pretty incredible 2014. Right from making the big buzz around their products in countries like USA and UK to establishing a presence in countries like India, OnePlus One was everybody’s second favorite device. It was the device that the developers absolutely loved while those who cared specifications and wanted all of it in a good budget jumped and bought. However, while most of the things were good and worth talking about in 2014, OnePlus One will truly be judged upon its position as a global player to reckon with, with its performance in 2015.
It is well known that the company will come out with the successor of the OnePlus One, in the form of OnePlus Two in the second or third quarter of this year. However, it has now emerged that the Chinese player would also bring another phone which would be targetting the consumers for whom design and build quality are of primary concern.
Carl Pei was quoted by PC World stating:
I think it’s going to be a phone catering to a different type of audience. Perhaps for those who appreciate design over specs.
It is interesting to see that Pei does kind of subtly gives away that the device would be definitely not for the audience looking for a midrange phone with great specifications, which translates into what could be a slightly more expensive but a well-built phone. Obviously there is nothing known in terms of specs or availability, but this is definitely a bold move by OnePlus in expanding its product catalogue this year.
