In the race of 4 inch+ displays on smart phones, the latest to enter the race is Samsung Infuse. The phone was officially announced though at the CES 2011 and since then had become quite a forgotten device. However, with the joint announcement of AT&T and Samsung Infuse is finally here.
The most startling feature of this device has got to be its extremely thin form factor as well as its 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus display. It indeed is a marvel of modern engineering how a device clocking a 1.2GHZ and so much other tech is so thin. However, this doesn’t come with the disappointment that the processor used in the phone is a single core processor. In the world of emerging dual core smart phones particularly like the Atrix and G2 and their relative success you have to wonder how the Infuse will face up to the competition. Another major disappointment was that the phone out of the box has Android 2.2. Am sure it would be upgradable to 2.3, but with Nexus S and various other devices now sporting Android 2.3 , this seems a glaring omission.
Apart from that though, this is an amazing device especially if the screen size and quality matters to you. The technical specs of the device are:
- Android 2.2 OS
- 1.2 GHz Hummingbird processor
- 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen (400 x 800)
- 4G: HSDPA CAT 14 and HSUPA CAT 6
- 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and auto focus
- 720p video capture
- 1.3 megapixel front camera
- 16 GBs internal memory
- microSD, microSDHC up to 32 GBs
- Accelerometer, Compass
- FM radio tuner
- 1750 mAh battery
The infuse can be picked up at $199.99 on a two year contract with AT&T.
