Apple’s iphone 5 is yet to be announced but Samsung has already planned its next move against arch rivals Apple. According to Korea times, Samsung is planning to ban the sales of Apple’s iPhone 5 in Korea. The news cannot be termed as a surprise after what Apple did to Samsung in Germany. Apple even managed to get a ban on Samsung’s newest range of Galaxy product in Netherlands and Australia. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 was also removed from IFA 2011 after Samsung lost the lawsuit against Apple.
It is interesting to note that Apple dethroned Nokia this year to become the world’s no.1 smartphone seller. Samsung who is currently number 2 is catching up at a very brisk pace and is likely to become the no.1 smartphone seller next year. This definitely adds up to the heat between these two companies.
However, the war of patents hasn’t been fair between the two companies. Apple was found manipulating evidence, where as Samsung seems to be suing Apple just for the sake of revenge.
However, this not the first war of patents between Apple and Samsung in Korea. Apple has already sued Samsung for copying iPad and iPhone in Galaxy range of products and even Samsung filed a countersuit.
This is what a senior Samsung executive had to say: “For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights”
Apple’s iPhone 5 is the most anticipated device of this year. If Samsung could manage to ban the sales of iPhone 5 in a single nation it will be a huge blow for Apple.
