After Google acquired Motorola mobility for $ 12.5 Billion everyone in the market started to give their views on the deal. After seeing the statements from HTC, LG, SE and Nokia we can say that everyone welcomed this deal and people have high hopes from Google in future. However Google confirmed that Motorola will be a separate entity and will not get special treatment on future Nexus device. They also said that Android will remain open source.
Samsung is one of the companies who had nice things to say about the acquisition. This is what Kim Titus (Samsung Mobile US PR) said about the deal
Samsung welcomes Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility, which we believe will provide intellectual property protection for the Android ecosystem. We do not expect this to have any impact on our mobile business.
This statement was almost similar to HTC who are happy to see that Google is defending Android.
This is what HTC said about the deal
We welcome the news of today’s acquisition, which demonstrates that Google is deeply committed to defending Android, its partners, and the entire ecosystem.
Well, we don’t know what we can expect from this deal but manufacture are feeling a bit more protected from the Lawsuit’s of Microsoft and Apple who have been targeting them these days.
HTC has also filed 3 lawsuits against Apple which makes me feel that they have gained some confidence out of this acquisition. The deal is done to gain an upper hand in the ongoing patent wars and to protect the Android ecosystem.
Whatever the case is this deal is being welcomed by everyone in the market and Google should get back to the innovation business now.
