Spice has launched a smartwatch with SIM card slots. Yes, take a minute and let that register in well. And yes, its true. We took a good minute and a half to get our head around the story, but Spice has indeed come out with a smartwatch that truly is straight from the Star Trek era. The smart watch looks very much like the Galaxy Gear lineup of devices, though it does not run Android Wear. Available for an introductory price of Rs 3,999 this is without a doubt the least expensive smart watch out there.
The Smart Pulse smartwatch runs on Java OS and not Android Wear as we mentioned earlier. This means, you will not be getting any of the Google Now cool updates on your wrist instantly. You have a 1.5 inch display with a resolution of 240×320. The watch supports active standby of two sims and comes with a bunch of replaceable 22 mm standard watch straps. There is an inbuilt speaker into the watch which allows you to talk directly from your wrist. SPice, on their part have included a bluetooth headset with the accessories for free.
The smartwatch is capable of making calls for three hours on a single recharge and standby times are said to be of 2 days. More than smartwatch, this is a really condensed version of a smartphone that basically lives on your wrist. There are no heart rate sensing or step marking mechanisms so far in the watch, though you can use the watch to click pictures as well as control the camera of your smartphone. There is support for both english and hindi on board here. The device will start selling from July 11th onwards from Homeshop18 exclusively.
