Stock Android Keyboard now Available for Download on Google Play Store

Google has been making giant efforts in the past few days to try and bring the Nexus experience or stock Android experience to as many users as possible. This attempt was kicked off by announcing the Google Editions of the two most popular Smartphones of 2013, the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S IV. The sudden rise to fame of Stock Android may be put down to the fact that some of the skins such as Touchwiz by OEM’s have left users with a laggy and unpleasant experience. By contrast, the experience on most Nexus devices has been smother.

Keeping it streamlined with all the Nexus stories, Google has decided to make it’s Nexus keyboard officially available to download in the Google Play Store. So far, you could download a couple of third party keyboards which did replicate the style and functionalities of the stock Google Keyboard but once again the performances were nothing to brag about.

The stock Google keyboard is available for free from the Play Store here.

Some of the major features of the keyboard according to the official description are:

• Gesture Typing with dynamic floating preview
• Voice Typing
• Next-word suggestions and current-word completions
• Dictionaries for 26 languages
• Advanced keyboard layouts
• Works across your Android devices (tablets and phones)
