Apply for Instant EMI on your Mobile Phone using the Bajaj Finserv Experia App

Buying gadgets today is kind of a big deal. The phones have become expensive, the computers were never cheap and the upcoming wearables also cost a bomb. If you are a fan of technology and want to own them all at one go, then really, the only option for you, unless you are born with a couple of diamond spoons in your mouth, is to look for an EMI based purchase so that you do not have to pay a lot of money at one go. EMI generally is given on a credit card, which not a lot of us have. This is where, Bajaj Finserv, has hit the ball out of the park for a massive six.

Bajaj Finserv

Using their recently launched app on Android and iOS, you will be able to apply for a personal loan and pay off using an EMI plan. No more, hassles of approvals or issues of limits. You can login to the app, using your Aadhar card, Facebook, Google+ or Twitter credentials and get instant approval of personal loans on Durables, Electronics, Mobiles and Furniture. Once the application is accepted after applying under ‘Quick Apply’ you can use the generated code to shop across more than 12,000 stores that support Bajaj Finance. You need to carry one of the mentioned documents in the app, when you buy the device of your choice.

Some of the features of the application are:

• Login with Aadhar Card, Facebook, LinkedIn or Google

• Share only the first 6 digits of their Credit Card to get an extra advantage. This increases their chances of getting an approval, and also makes them eligible for higher loan amounts. No money will be deducted from their card and Bajaj Finserv does not use your Credit Card details for any banking purpose.

• Convenience of applying from anywhere, anytime

• Edit their personal details easily

• Post approval, shop across any of Bajaj Finserv’s 12,000+ partner outlets in, over 150 cities

• Track their loan application

WhatSIM is a SIM card that lets you Access and Send Whatsapp Messages Anywhere in the World

Whatsapp has become the standard communication platform today among just about everybody. With the growing penetration of smartphones, it is little surprise that just about everyone is on Whatsapp and the number of text messages being sent have declined rapidly. In fact, other than brief client interactions, I barely remember when was the last time I sent a text message to anybody to have a conversation.

No wonder, when we go out or visit a station beyond our home, the only connectivity we long for is our Whatsapp account. It is fine if Twitter fails for a while and things are at a standstill, we are even okay with Facebook not working, but no WhatsApp means no communication and that can be a bit painful.

Solving this issue is a smart SIM card called WhatSIM which basically allows you to use the SIM to send unlimited Whatsapp messages. You will have to pay Euros 10 and additional Euros 5 for the shipment of the SIM which comes to roughly around Rs 1,070 to get the SIM. You will need to further recharge credit on your SIM to be able to send across Voice Messages, Images and Contacts/ Locations. The recharge window for the same will begin only towards end of February.

Explaining the concept, the inventor, Manuel Zanella, issued a statement saying, “Anywhere in the world it connects to the provider with the best coverage and signal right where you are. If you change your position, it automatically searches for a new provider. If a better one is available, it connects by itself without you even noticing it.”

The SIM card will work in over 150 countries with more than 400 networks connecting to it.

Could we see Wearable Tech devices at MWC from Acer and Asus?

Wearables were predicted to be the big thing of 2014 and we are only getting started. With Apple pretty much confirming they are entering the segment with their much hyped smart watch and already a strong existence from the likes of Samsung, Sony, Pebble and Qualcomm looks like we will see two new players joining them as early as MWC perhaps.

It is being reported that both Asus and Acer, the two most successful players in the PC business are lining up wearables from their engineering laboratories. While Asus pretty much confirmed they are working on a smart watch that would be groundbreaking, Acer has decided to play its cards close to chest.

Asus Chairman Jonney Shih, said the following while addressing the question of smartwatches:

We will put our entire design thought into it. There are actually many challenges in this area, and I don’t think products that lack special features will be useful. We’ll try to replace your watch by all means.

Acer executive Peter Shieh did not reveal what exact wearable was the company working on, but there have been rumors that some of the key executives at CES were shown the devices. He said the following:

The company is still developing certain types of wearable devices. We certainly aim to play a role in the new market.

It is a no brainer that more the number of players in the category, the better it would be for the consumers, but how long do we have to wait for this is still anybody’s guess. Are you excited about the number of players jumping on the wearable bandwagon? Let us know.

Next Gen USB with Reversible Plug Coming in 2014

A lot was made when Apple announced the Lightening connector with the iPhone 5. It was a major leap for the company which so far had been using a rather big and ugly 30 pin connector. However, what Lightening connector bough to the table was that you could insert it either way and it worked fine taking away the pains of having to read which side are you inserting the cable.

And looks like USB is so set receive a similar treatment. it is common knowledge that none of us have inserted the USB correctly the first time of trying, yes, if you have, it must have been a fluke. To avoid this and avoid the irritation the new generation of USB cables will have a reversible plug meaning you can push it in either directions.

The USB cable will start to go out in 2014 and will support both USB 2.0 ports and 3.1 ports. This new standard is going to be called Type C and certainly will help reducing the thickness of various devices. The specifications would be released very soon and looks like there will be a fair few players who will take this technology on board.

Top 5 Gadgets You Should Buy This Diwali

Diwali, the festival of lights is upon us. It is usually one of the biggest festivals in the calender year of Indians and  no wonder people use the festival as a great excuse for purchasing plenty of gifts. As a tech nerd, the best gift you can get or gift to someone is always a piece of latest technology. So this Diwali, let’s check out the gifts you can consider for yourself or your family to make it a happy festival of lights.

1) iPad Mini: iPad Mini is the smaller and more pocket able version of an iPad. It measures a nice comfortable 7.9 inches in screen size and can be picked for a very decent price of about $349. It may not be available everywhere in India, but if you have a relative coming over from the US or UK, you must consider this piece of technology. It is both easy to carry and resourceful. It gives you a great way to step into the Apple Ecosystem too.

2) iPod Touch-5th Gen: iPods have easily transformed the way we listen to music. Today our entire music library is stored in this small handy device that lasts much longer than your capacity to hear music on the go. Imagine if this iPod came with all the apps and features that a regular iPhone or a iPad comes for, and at a fraction of a price, would it not be a great buy? The answer is obviously yes. So this Diwali, why not pick the latest iPod Touch and treat your ears to nice soothing music rather than the blasts of crackers. And the new gen of iPods are available in plenty of colors too making it the perfect gift.

3) A Samsung LED Smart TV: I until recently failed to understand the fuss people made in picking their TV sets. I had been a loyal Sony Bravia user until I recently tested the Samsung Smart LED TV. If you are in for a TV this Diwali go ahead and pick this. The picture quality is amazing, but the ability to run apps, play games as well as stream content on your TV has never been easier. Also, it is very competently prized which would make it a great pick on Diwali. Do look out for various exchange schemes as well as discounts with your local retailers, you could get as high as 25% off if you have your eyes open.

4) A Nexus 4 Smart Phone: We love Nexus devices here at Blogtechnika. And the latest in the line of Nexus is the Nexus 4. It is a device made by LG and beautifully carved in glass. The phone gives you pure Android Vanilla Ecosystem, Android, just the way it should have been. The device is very well priced for just $299 unlocked if you pick from Google in the US. In India too you can pre order the phone for as low as Rs. 21,000. The phone has every single feature and much more than any of the other high end Android smart phones out there like the HTC One X, Note II, SIII or Xperia TL.

5) A DSLR Camera: We all love to capture that special moment with our family and friends, and what better way to do that than a DSLR camera. These are in rage of late as every Tom and Jerry seem to think they are photographers, as a result there are plenty of DSLR’s especially by Canon and Nikon that can be picked for a very reasonable price. It also makes for a wonderful gift for family and friends. You can pick a DSLR starting at about Rs 25,000 or up depending on the model and the lens configuration you wish to pick up. We would highly recommend the Canon EOS 600D SLR and Nikon D3200 SLR as potential good choices.

So this Diwali what did you gift to your friends and family? Do let us know in the section below.

In the modern world where every other thing is now digitalized, what’s next in the queue???

Well the physical notebooks are now notepad files on the PC, calendars are maintained in the cell phones, post its which were common reminders can now virtually be placed on your desktop, the big robust alarm clock is now built in your phones or tablets etc. The last thing we need, well at least on personal preference is human touch to be digitalized. But, seems like the Japanese have explored a never heard before avenue in gadgets by creating the very first kiss transmission device.

Here is this revolutionary (at least for some) device in action:

That’s right, what you just saw is indeed a device that can transfer a kiss. It is a good guess that the plastic tube is connected to some sort of a motor that is attached to your computer and a similar arrangement is made at the recipient’s end.

To look at it from a positive perspective, development of such devices may enable things like giving medical attention to people immediately via the computer and it could indeed prove very useful for a nation like India.

So what do you think of this? A pure laughable invention or one that could open floodgates to devices that could potentially make a great deal of a difference to humans, do let us know in your comments.

Bing Image of The Day on Your Desktop Gadget

One unique thing about Bing search engine is its daily changing attractive background images. Although Google also has background image feature for sometimes back but one needs to login into his Google account to use this feature. In past we’ve told you how to download Bing theme RSS feed pack to automatically update desktop wallpaper. If you want to see what’s Bing added today without visiting the website (obviously for Google fans) then there is a desktop gadget available for Windows users. All you need to do is download and install this gadget on your computer.

One useful feature of this gadget is you can search for any term directly from your desktop. Just click on the Bing icon at the middle of the gadget and a search box pop up will appear. Enter the keyword and press “Enter”. The search result will open inside your default browser.

One drawback of this gadget is unavailability of options panel. You can’t change the size of widget. The small size widget fails to provide the exact idea of the background of the day. We expect that developers of this gadget will either increase the size of gadget or decrease the size of Bing search box (which consumes most of the space of widget).
