Apple has already started testing iPhone with Force Touch

If 2013/14 was the year of Touch ID, 2015 has been all about Force Touch. As wrong as that name sounds, Force Touch is all about pressure sensitivity and we have seen it in the new MacBook Airs as well as the Apple Watch. Force Touch provides another way of differential input for the device. It is now being reported that not just the MacBooks and Apple Watches, the next iteration of iPhones would also bring Force Touch which would allow for an extra layer of inputs on the touch screen.

Force Touch

The mass production of the device is set to begin sometime next month though the testing has already begun. It was also reported that Apple wanted multi-functional displays to have been a part of the arsenal as far as 2013 though obviously things did not materialise then. With iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, you would expect that Force Touch would then follow up in devices like the iPad and other MacBooks.

The next iteration of iPhone is not expected to hit the market before the holiday season, so there is enough scope for things to change, but if there is something that we are fairly confident of coming into the next iPhones as a true differentiator, it would be Force Touch and unless something radically changes, it should be here.

These DareDevil Kids Are Bending iPhone 6 Plus in Apple Store

After infamous Apple’s Bendgate controversy, Apple admitted that only 9 iPhone users were reported “bend” phone issues so far. But, instead of Apple’s explanation, new videos surface regularly which proves that there are more number of devices bending than company admitted. In the new addition of bending controversy, two kids made a daring (or stupid) video for YouTube viewers in which they showed how they bent the iPhone 6 Plus with bare hands.

This bending event happened on some store in UK. A kid bent the phone so that the screen came out from the phone’s chasis. Check out the video:

4 Million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were Pre Ordered within the first 24 hours

The numbers have spoken and the giant of the industry has once again exuberated the immense power vested in itself by claiming unprecedented figures. Before you lose the track of what we are trying to say here, the giants of the industry obviously refers to Apple and the numbers here are the pre order numbers of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

iPhone 6

Last week it was revealed that Apple had set a new milestone record with the pre order number of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. However, what was not known was exactly how many iPhones were ordered as the device went on sale at the weekend. However, the initial impressions from social media was that a lot of people were left frustrated at not having been able to pre order the device of their choice and therefore took to the platform to hit Apple with rants and F-bombs. However, that number looks like it was definitely a minority as Apple has officially confirmed that 4 million iPhones were pre ordered in 24 hours.

The announcement came from Tim Cook himself who said, “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

The phones surpassed the record of 2 million pre orders for iPhone 5 and are expected to ship to the ones who pre-ordered them on September 19th. However, due to shipment issues there will be a sizeable number of people who will have to wait for the device maybe even as long as till October to get them. Majority of these are said to be iPhone 6 Plus which is scantily available.

Apple announces the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch at the Special Apple Event

Apple finally lifted lid on what was perhaps the poorest kept, yet the most anticipated secret in the tech world recently. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus were announced at an event held in Cupertino. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, both ditch the one hand usability theory that Apple had been propagating till today. The iPhone 6 features a 4.7 inch display while the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a 5.5 inch display.

Both the iPhones will run on the newly designed A8 chip with M8 co-processor which now has a barometer as well along with the previous capabilities which would help you measure the distance you travel as well as pressure variations. Due to the larger displays, the entire springboard and the corresponding apps can be used in a landscape mode along with the standard portrait mode. Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have the fingerprint reader or Touch ID integrated.

Both the phones are also NFC featured which would allow them to enable wireless payments which Apple introduced via Apple Pay. The Apple service will allow the users to scan their cards and enable payments with just one touch. Apps such as Uber, Groupon as well as offline partners such as McDonalds will be able to utilize this service at 220,000 locations. The API of Apple Pay will be made available to the third party devs too.

Remarkably, both the iPhones are thinner than the iPhone 5s, which along with the iPhone 5c will continue to sell. The iPhone 6 will have a resolution of 1334×750 while the iPhone Plus will have a resolution of 1920×1080. Apple claims the new displays have higher contrast ratios, better viewing angles and better touch response. The camera on the devices is an 8 MP, with each pixel measuring at 1.5 microns and a new f/2.2 aperture sensor. The new iPhones will be available starting 26th of September.

Apple Watch

However, this was not all, Apple had one more thing up its sleep and it was the Apple Watch. The watch is expected to be at the forefront of the wearable revolution. As expected, the watch is exquisitely designed with beautiful coming together of Aluminum chassis and Sapphire display with bendable retina display. As we had expected, the OS running the Apple watch is totally designed from the ground up for the smaller display. The watch has a crown, which is basically a modified rotary dial that we see on the sides of mechanical watch, which is used to scroll or select apps or actions on the watch. You can rotate the crown or simply press it once to return to the home or long press to launch Siri. You have dedicated apps for the Apple Watch such as Maps, Fitness trackers as well as third party app support such as Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter.

Apple Watch1

There are plenty of watch faces and support for notifications to be displayed on the watch like you would expect on any smart watch. Apple has tried to reinvent the communication via the watch, as you can draw or simply send emojis along with text or voice messages to your friends. The watch will be available in six straps with three sizes. The watch will come in three editions for each strap, the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sports Edition and Apple Watch Edition and starts at $349. The Apple Watch will go on sale early next year.

iPhone 6 India Launch Date is September 26 [Update: It’s October 17th Now]

The most anticipated device of 2014, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus have just launched by Apple. The device will be available in US and other 8 countries on September 19th, 2014. India launch is not far behind. On Apple India page it is clearly mentioned that the phone is launching on September 26, just within few days after US launch.

On Apple India page it is mentioned that both the phones (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6) will be available. You may get these phones on contract basis with Airtel and Aircel network providers. It is still not clear that the phones will be available through contract basis only or we can see independent sale like we’ve seen in past.
It will be interesting to see the pricing of these phones. If Apple would like to keep the same pricing as we saw for iPhone 5s, then the most probable pricing for these phones will be following:

iPhone 6 (16 GB) – INR 53000.
iPhone 6 Plus (16 GB) ~ INR 60000.

Note: Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus price is not official yet. The above pricing is based on assumption.

Update: From the just updated Apple India website, we came to know that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in India from 17th Of October, 2014.
