Panasonic Launches its Latest Phablet P55 at Rs 10,290 with Tap Play Feature

Panasonic is continuing to strengthen its smartphone lineup with yet another launch. The latest device is called the P55 and is in the ever growing phablet category. Nobody could have envisaged that Phablets would become such a key category for all the major smartphone players but given the preference of Indian to own a device that can double as a tablet and a phone, you can see why the category has really taken off.

Launching the P55, Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said:

The P55 is a midrange affordable phablet from Panasonic and will be available for Rs 10,290 in the first week of November. With a thickness of just 7.9 mm and an elegant and interesting tile patterned back cover, the P55 promises to be quite a looker. The device has a 5.5 inch IPS HD display which is powered by a Quadcore 1.2 GHz chipset at the heart of it. You have 1 GB of RAM but a very disappointing 4 GB of ROM, though you do have expansion via Micro SD slot in the device for the multimedia enthusiasts.

The front facing camera is 2 MP while you have an 8 MP rear camera on the device. The battery is 2500 mAh and the device supports dual active SIM slots. The device also has Light Sensor, Proximity sensor & Accelerometer among the sensors and your usual array of connectivities like Bluetooth, WiFi etc. You also have FM radio in there. The phone will be available in both black as well as white variants.

Panasonic Announces P81 for Rs 18,990

After teasing the device for a while Panasonic has finally released its latest flagship device, the P81 in India today. The device will go on sale for a price of rs 18,990 making it a direct competitor for the likes of Micromax knight and Karbonn Hexa. We are pretty sure that the device will be available for far lesser once it is available in the market.


On the specs front, the P81 comes with a 5.5 inch 720 P display and is powered by an octa Core Chip which is actually a Mediatek chip MTK6592 with each core clocked at about 1.7 GHz. The device has a RAM of 1 GB and 8 GB ROM which can be expanded using an external Micro SD slot. The camera on board is a 13 MP rear shooter with f/2.2 lens and 5 MP front facing shooter for Skype and Hangout sessions. The P81 will come with Android JellyBean 4.2.2 out of the box though panasonic have said the available to KitKat will be available though no date on when would that happen has been released.

The Panasonic P81 is a dual SIM device so you can have two SIMs on standby. It also has the FM Radio player which is a big deal for those in India. The battery on board is a 2500 mAh which is a bit of a disappointment. It would be available in stores starting today and will ship with loads of free goodies and bundled apps worth of Rs 10,000 and more combined.
