Samsung has made some of the most eye catchy and popular devices in the past few years. Right from the days of the Samsung Galaxy S1, which set the juggernaut wheels in motion, Samsung has delivered hits after hits in the mobile market, until recently. In a time where marketing and past glory can only take you that far, Samsung has seen the profits dip and lost the x-factor in the market.
One of the major gripes people have had with Samsung has been their inability to design premium phones. While the Galaxy S4 and S5 are fine devices, they are not on the same class level as the HTC M8 or the iPhone 5s or even the Sony Xperia Z2. THere have been rumors that Samsung is working hard on changing this and coming out with a top class Android smartphone made out of metal, and looks like the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is going to be just that. The device has been leaked out on the internet and has a metallic band on the sides with chamfered edges, like what we have seen with the HTC M8 and the iPhone 5s giving it a neat finish.
The images were leaked out on Weibo and show the device from the sides as well back. The Galaxy Alpha is expected to come with a 720 P display with a 4.8 inch screen. The back panel of the device largely looks plastic. The Galaxy Alpha is powered by a Snapdragon 805 or an Exynos OctaCore SoC with 2 GB of RAM on board. It is not clearly known when the device will be released, but the date touted is August 13th ahead of the Note 4 event. Is this a beginning of a change in the way Samsung likes to do things or just a one off? We will have to wait and watch.
