WordPress has released a new version of their popular tool dubbed “Sonny” after Jazz Saxophonist Sonny Stitt. Worpress 3.3 boasts of a neater,cleaner interface,less flash, better responsiveness and a host of many other features that allows for adaptation of WordPress admin to smaller screens.

To get the latest version, head over to the WordPress website to download the latest version or you can simply update the one you are using through the dashboard.

The new WordPress comes built in with a load of new and improved features to help create a more productive experience for users. Experienced users will appreciate the new drag and drop feature for uploading images, hover menus for easy navigation, a new toolbar and a Tumblr importer. This time, WordPress has concentrated on how they can improve the experience for new users and have added simple things like pointer tips and a welcome message for all those new users.

The new image uploader is easy to use and has impressed well with its drag and drop support for all kinds of media files.

What impressed us about the new look of WordPress is the slicker and cleaner interface lift that they have given. Hover over menus to view their contents sliding out making almost all features of this tool just a single click away.

WordPress is continuously striving to make the experience of the user easier and more interactive and this update is one step forward in that direction.

By doing continuous hard work, research and writing on your blog for day, months and years, you create an asset which you don’t want to lose at any cost. How to install and configure the plugin

Installation of this plugin is easy. You can download it from the official site or from inside the WordPress dashboard. Click on “Add New” under plugin section and then type online backup for WordPress in the search box. Install and activate the Online Backup for WordPress plugin.

Go to activated plugins and click on “View status” link given below the plugin page. You’ll get a page as shown in the screenshot below. There are two sections: Overview and Perform a manual backup.

After downloading the plugin, create an online account which gives you 50MB of free space to store the backup file. Register your account here.

Overview section

This is the most important section as you can change the settings, change backup schedule, decrypt a backup. Click on Change settings button to change the default settings. Here you can select which table to get backed up. The core WordPress tables such as wp_comments, wp_links, wp_options, wp_postmeta, wp_posts, etc. always get backed up. Also you can choose the encryption technology (ex. AES 128) and encryption key to keep your backup data safe.

You can schedule the backup according to hours, day, weeks or month. Also you can set it to email the schedule backups to you automatically. Sending backup to online vault is optional. You can uncheck the option if you don’t want a copy of backup.

Perform a manual backup

You can anytime perform a manual backup within the wp dashboard. Check the option box next to “Download to your computer”, “Send to the online backup vault” and click on the “Start manual backup” button to start the backup process.

The backup will start and automatically get downloads on your computer. The downloaded file will be a zipped and encrypted  (WPOnlineBackup_03-09-2010-04-45-06.bak.gz.enc). You can decrypt it with the help of decrypt tool available in the overview section. .

This is a nice tool to backup your WordPress blog. Remember that if you are not using any backup service to backup your blog then you might be doing a big mistake. Use this plugin and backup your blog now to avoid horrible situations in future.

Google auto suggestion is no doubt one of the important feature to find out relevant result. It helps me a lot in find some great software alternative and other results. This morning just for curiosity, I tried to know what Google is suggesting about blogging and the results where not so exciting. Here is a screenshot of what Google suggest to me. I strongly disagree with few results.

It may be topic of discussion that blogging is journalism or not but other points are obviously not true.

Windows Livewriter is one of the favorite tool for bloggers. But installing Windows Live Writer again on a computer due to some reason (Formatting computer or using any other computer)  is a time consuming process.

If anyone owns two or more blogs then adding those  blogs again to Windows Live Writer is annoying. Also apart from blog setting you cannot bring back your important settings such as categories, links and preferences.

Basic Steps to Export Live Writer settings:

Download and install the program. After restarting Windows Live Writer you will get Import/Export link on the right sidebar under Insert option. Click on the link to open the wizard.

Now select the settings you want to export. Apart from blog setting you can export preferences, plugins and autolinks also.

Now choose the location to store the setting, you may store the setting in your computer or you can store it in directory on FTP site.

Today is the last day of 2009. The new year is knocking the door . On this occasion  I collect all the list post of Blogtechnika which I wrote this year. Explore Previous Post

Write a single post in which you can describe all the previous you had written on your blog. Give the title of every post in a single blog post and hyperlink each title with the original post.

Tweet Your Previous Post

Twitter is a good marketing tool. You can tweet your previous post in a regular time interval. Don’t forget to put a hash tags (#) on your tweet to explore it fully among Twitter audience. Request others to retweet your post.

Title of blog post is an attention grabber. Anyone who visit your post, first look at the title of post. Title is not only important for reader perspective, but it also important for SEO perspective, so be specific while choosing a correct title for your post. Don’t do mistakes by writing title for search engines only. There are lot lot more other things than emphasizing on search engines. Don’t ignore Social media which is a good source of visitors or traffic on your blog. Social media visitors generally come from killer titles. There are various methods for selecting a killer title for blog post.

1. Don’t use long Title

People generally use very long title for the post. They want to give every information in the title. This is a wrong way to write a title. The correct way is to make your title as simple as possible. Don’t try to make it so long. Title of up to 50 letters is considered as a good title.

2. Don’t make it too short

Short title is also not considered good. Try to tell about your article in sufficient words. But don’t try to minimize the title. Short title sometimes lose visitors attention. So try to make it good to read and attractive. Instead of using “Blogging tools” you can use “25 killer blogging tools for bloggers”.

3. Insert numbers

It is my personal experience that titles having number perform well in social media. If you are writing list post then try to give a number in a title. For example: 25 killer WordPress tips, 100 great WordPress plugins for Bloggers instead of using Great WordPress plugins for bloggers.

4. Use “How to” and “Guide” in Title

There is a heavy demand of “How to” articles on internet. People generally search information on Google. Their search starts from  “How to”. So if you are writing any tutorial then start your title from “How to”. Ex. How to install WordPress Manually.

5. Use Keywords In Title

Titles play a crucial role in SEO. So using keywords in a title of any post is a good practice for SEO. Try to use keyword in the starting of a title. It is probable that any visitors who search with the keyword will land out at your page through search engines.

Broken links are those links which are mistakenly typed incomplete. These links are either not a link or a wrong link redirecting to error page. When I checked Broken links of my blogs I found several broken link on my blog and corrected it with the help of WordPress plugin known as Broken link checker.

This plugin automatically  find all the broken links on the blog and display it when requested.

You may see option panel in which it tells you about all the present links and broken links present in the blog.

You can edit all the broken links manually . It is very easy task.

Blogging is going tough day by day. From “going tough” I mean there is a lots of competition in this field which is increasing significantly day by day. Every important niche is going saturated. There is a  flood of blog telling about computer tips, Blogging tips, make money online, gadget, technology, web 2.0, tools and hacks, iPhone and related niche. It is very difficult to analyze the current situation because every one is writing and writing and writing to get among the top position.

Working individual

Working individually means taking responsibility of all the fields of blogging it either writing content, marketing of content, keyword research, promotion, strategic analysis, roadmap building, stats analysis, blog designing and other related work. All the work can be done by individual and lots of bloggers doing this.

Working in a team

Working in a team means there would be a  team of people where every person got his favorite task belong to his expert. Suppose a person wants to write a post and he is not interested in marketing and promotions then his task would be writing only articles for a blog. If a person is expert in marketing having lots of contacts then he would assign marketing work, in the same way task would be assigned to designing work and SEO of the blog.

Advantage of team work

First of all I want to say that making a good team is a very difficult task because team work is based on trust and it is difficult to find a trustful member for a team. But making a good team is not impossible. There are some good blogs there in a blogosphere which are doing great as a team. Few examples are Techcrunch, Mashable, Blogussion, Makeuseof. These are great blog having a joint venture. These blogs work on a team and every member had assigned by a particular work. This is a great way to generate a great income.

Disadvantage of working alone

Working alone or working individually has lots of disadvantages. The primary one is if the blogger get ill or he met with some condition in which he will unable to write content for his blog  then it would be a tough time to him because he would unable to update his blog for that particular time period. This would result in degradation of traffic and income. Also as competition is going tough and tough  as time passes so team work is more preferable for getting expected result.

How to make a great team

As I said earlier making a good team is a very difficult task. For making a team you have to don’t need to choose any random person. You need to choose a person from whom you work before or who has a reputable identity on internet. He should be expert in his field. Its either writing content or marketing part.

Clear Vision and goal

Clear vision is very necessary for making of a great team. Everything should clear from the starting of a task. Its either your goal, reason behind making of team, how much money to be invested and how much time team will take to clear the goal.

Commitment and Hard work

Commitment and hard work are the two pillars of any team. Team members should know clearly about their task and they should participate actively in any work. Anything could achieve by hard work and dedication.

Talent

Talent is a much required factor for any team. If a team has a talented person then it is not so much difficult for any team to achieve their goals. Team member should have proper knowledge of his expertise and he should capable of handling pressure.

Control and command

Team should have freedom to do work but some boundary is necessary so that no one can ruin the integrity of team.  There should be a member who have a authority to take decisions. Also authorities should have proper plan and vision to take the venture to the next level.
