Updated Google Maps Appear in Play Store

Google showed off a completely overhauled Google Maps for Android at Google I/O 2013. The release date of the app was not specified and we were told to wait till summers to catch the rollout. However, first leaks of the new Google Maps have started to surface as the new filters through that the rollout is begging. In fact, the Play Store already has Screenshots and what is new in the new maps, what is missing though is a way to update the maps.

Google Maps update

If you cannot wait for it, a simple Google Search will bring you the .apk of the new Google Maps application and you can install it on your device or just wait for the update to go live. Once again, the staged rollout is a big issue when it comes to Google and even on Nexus devices the rollout has not begun at the time of drafting this post.

Live traffic updates and dynamic re-routing is a big part of the update and we are pretty excited about the all new Maps given how well the desktop version works. There is also incident reports and you can explore new places to drink and dine or shop and play. The update will begin rolling out shortly for Android 4.0.3+ users.
