Earlier in the year there were several reports that pointed towards end of the Nexus line of smartphones from Google. Nexus line has become popular and seen devices such as Galaxy Nexus, Nexus One, Nexus S as well as Nexus 4 before the Nexus 5 which came out last year. Needless to say that the Nexus 5 has been the most popular and best spec’d Nexus smartphone, and if you asked most people in the know of their tech stuff, they feared the end of the line known to run Android in its most native state.
It was mulled that the Android Silver line of devices will replace Nexus phones next year, yet according to a report in PhoneArena, the next Nexust smartphone will be called the Nexus X and will see the light of the day. The device is expected to be called Nexus X and not Nexus 6 despite following the Nexus 4 and 5 because Nexus 6 is already a trademark, having been used in the Sci-Fi book, ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheeps’.
The device is expected to bring a 5.9 inch display with a 2K display and rock Snapdragon 805 SoC as well as a 13 MP camera with Android L out of the box. It has been rumoured that Motorola is the one given the task of designing the Nexus 6 and with the Motorola Moto X+1 set to come out early next month, maybe the Nexus 6 is closer than what most of us thought.
