An event that had garnered a lot of interest in the tech media world, Xiaomi finally unveiled the Mi 4i in New Delhi, today in India. The device, is pretty much what the iPhone 5c is to the iPhone 5s, that is a largely a plastic or polycarbonate as they like to call it built body with several stripped down specifications, with a more affordable price point than the higher spec’d variant. The device comes in several colors including black, white, blue, orange and pink. The Mi 4i has been priced at Rs 12,999 and is already open for registrations, for a flash sale that will happen on April 30th.
In terms of specs, the device comes with a 5 inch display with a 1080 P resolution panel, giving it a solid 441 PPI. You have the 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core under the hood which is powering the device with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. The rear and front camera on the device are a 13 MP and 5 MP units with f/2.0 and f/1.8 aperture. There is sadly no expansion via Micro SD card on the device so you really are restricted in terms of what you can store.
The battery is a non-removable 3,120mAh unit and the phone comes with dual active SIM cards with both supporting LTE for Indian bands. The device runs MIUI on top of Android 5.0 lollipop and has several interesting features including IVR recognition and beauty enhancement shots aimed solely at the Indian audience.
