After introducing the trend of flash sales which virtually everyone in the mainstream smartphone consumer tech world seem to have hooked on to, Xiaomi is planning to move away from Flipkart to its own website for hosting the sales of their products. It is worth noting that in China, all the Mi products are sold directly from their website rather than any sort of an exclusive partnership. The only reason, why we feel, this model was not implemented in India was due to the issues with warehousing and logistics coupled with the fact that Xiaomi had no idea about how hit the products will be with Indians.
However, after exceedingly awesome response, Manu Jain, the India Head of Xiaomi has told PTI that that they are actively considering the warehousing, supply chain and logistic options which would enable them to operate independently.
We are currently looking for warehousing and logistics partners in India, as well as deciding on a payment mechanisms like cash on delivery. It may take anywhere between three to nine months.
It is worth considering that the report says that Xiaomi will also launch its new site called Mi.com towards the latter half of the year which will cater to this sale rather than their own portal currently.
