Often called, the Apple of China due to its large following and focus on excellent products, Xiaomi is set to wash the waters of Indian shores. having teased us for almost six months now, the Chinese OEM has officially begun operations in India today as it announced the Xiaomi Mi3. The device will go on sale in market starting from July 15th for a price of Rs 14,999.
At this price, the device is expected to compete with a lot of mid tier smartphones, but this is where the big catch is. The Mi3 is nothing like a budget smartphone and packs specs that would perhaps even put some of the flagships to shame. The device features a 1080 P 5 inch display with a 441 PPI which is almost on par with the likes of HTC M8. Powering the device is a Snapdragon 800 SoC with 2 GB of RAM. You have an internal memory of 16 GB. The device is also a rather light weight one weighing only 145 grams largely due the fact that it is made out of plastic.
The Xiaomi Mi3 has been extremely popular in the likes of China and Singapore where the device has sold millions and millions of units. In India, the device will sell directly from Flipkart which is the official retail partner. We have seen Motorola adapt a similar strategy and things have been mixed in terms of how well people have taken to it. We certainly hope that Xiaomi will be bringing in these devices to offline market soon as well.
